As the lead designer at Fytogreen Australia and founder of UnitedNatures, Erik is a master of living architecture and regenerative design. Instead of just "watering tips," Erik is taking us on a deep dive with his presentation: "Growing Aroids – A Deeper Look at the Basics" Erik will explore the underlying principles that support successful aroid cultivation, helping growers better understand the ecological and biological foundations behind these remarkable plants. Drawing on his deep understanding of plant ecology and cultivation, Erik will take us beyond simple growing tips to explore the underlying biological and environmental principles that influence how aroids grow and thrive. ✨ Our member feature: Andy (@plantyandy) 🌿 Are you a member that has a story to share? Message us and we'll tell you how! 1. What’s your all-time favourite aroid? My favourite Aroid would have the be pseudohydrosme gabunensis which is a wacky African Aroid with a really obscure flower 2. How did you first fall in love with aroids? Was there a ‘gateway plant’? My housemate gifted me a plant book which had a heap of pictures of indoor plants that I “needed” to have! I also won a philodendron Majestic in a competition at a local nursery. Once I found out it was a hybrid I just had to get the parents and boom things got out of control after that :joy: 3.What’s one aroid care tip you swear by? I always look at growing plants form a scientific view. I’m always hypothesising about what will happen if I use a different media/water more or less or even finding out what happens if I heap fertiliser on a plant! 4. Which aroid is currently challenging you (and how are you dealing with it)? I’ve got a really low light area where my Amorphophallus are just struggling 😭 but it’s just so worth it when one occasionally flowers!!! 5. What’s a plant in your collection that deserves more hype?
